King Announces Candidacy for Constable Precinct 1

November 25, 2019 - My name is Ricky King and I am excited to announce my candidacy for Shelby County Constable Precinct  1.

For those of you that do not know me, I am a Detective Sergeant with the Center Police Department and have been with the department for sixteen (16) years. While at the department I have served in the roles as Patrol Officer, Detective, eventually specializing in Narcotics Investigations, Patrol Sergeant, and my current role is Detective Sergeant assigned to the Street Crimes Division.

My experience in law enforcement, and my extended residency in Shelby County, has provided insight into the very specific issues which our county is facing, Drawing from said knowledge and experience I hope to begin addressing these issues- more specifically, drugs. It is no secret that our county has been plagued with drug abuse and distribution for a long time now and that said usage and dealing of drugs is linked, either directly or indirectly to other offenses (such as thefts, assaults, burglaries, child abuse, neglect, etc.). Consequently, most of us have witnessed this drug epidemic first hand and all of us have been impacted by it. If elected as the Constable for Pct. 1, I will draw upon my training and experience in law enforcement related investigations to assist in tackling the crime epidemic that is ravaging our great county. I believe strongly that a proactive stance is the only way to combat the issues. Along with the normal duties of civil process services and bailiff duties for Justice of the Peace, I also look forward to being available as an extra Patrol presence and assisting the Sheriff’s Office with calls in Precinct 1.

It is important to me to stress that I respect our current Constable Zack Warr and I am grateful for the extended years of service that he has dedicated to Shelby County. As such, speaking negatively of Constable Warr will not be a staple in my candidacy and should not be tolerated by those that choose to support me in this election. My decision to run for office is the result of a great amount of prayer, conversation with my family, and a feeling of responsibility to better serve my constituents.

Thank you for your time and consideration during this upcoming election. May all of you have a very Happy Thanksgiving and a very Merry Christmas. God bless.

Sincerely,
Ricky King
