Leadership Conference to Feature Spicy Cajun Wisdom

November 4, 2015 - The Leadership Shelby County committee of the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce announces a Leadership Conference will be hosted by Leadership Alumni on Wednesday, November 18 in Foster Hall at the Windham Civic Center. Farmers State Bank will sponsor the 11am until 1pm luncheon event.

The keynote speaker, Jennifer Ledet, is from the bayous of South Louisiana and has a unique perspective on leadership. She will share her recipe “Leadership GUMBO,” plus a little Cajun Spice. She will highlight the skills, characteristics and qualities of the successful leaders she has encountered working with volunteer organizations and corporate clients in a wide variety of industries.

“Today’s leaders are expected to do more with less, and since you can’t do it all yourself, inspiring and engaging others becomes vital. Your ability to build rapport and relationships has never been more important than in today’s business environment,” explains Ledet.

The presentation is designed for business owners, managers, team members and professionals, and is open to the public. Committee chairman, Jason Locke commented, “Leadership Shelby County Alumni wants to share this professional development opportunity featuring a national speaker, with the community, right here in Center.”

“Attendees will hear some delightful Cajun wit and wisdom as a guide to develop a personal recipe for excellence,” shared Pam Phelps, Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director. Tyson Foods, City of Center and Wayne Christian Financial are event underwriters.

Pre-registration is required by Friday, November 13 by emailing info@shelbycountychamber.com or calling the chamber office at 936.598.3682. Individual tickets are $35 or a reserved table of six is $200, which includes a Cajun lunch. Payment can be made by credit card or an invoice may be requested.

Leadership Shelby County was established in 2003 and has graduated ten classes of leaders. The Shelby County Chamber of Commerce is organized to promote and advance economic enrichment and development, tourism, and the social and civic interest of Shelby County and adjoining areas.
