July 16, 2026 - The Shelby County Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce its annual 5K Chicken Trot, sponsored by Cline Family Medicine, scheduled for October 3rd at 8am at Portacool Park.
July 8, 2026 - The community is invited to celebrate an important piece of local history during the dedication of the official historical marker for the Historic Old Jail built at the same time as the 1885 Historic Courthouse.
The marker dedication will take place this Saturday, July 11th at 10:15am, at the Historic Jail on the historic courthouse lawn. Community members, local officials, historians and visitors are encouraged to attend the special ceremony honoring one of the area’s most significant landmarks.
June 30, 2026 - The community is invited to celebrate patriotism, history and family fun during a special Shelby County Stars and Stripes Morning on Saturday, July 11, from 10am to 1pm on the Historic Courthouse Grounds.
June 8, 2026 - The Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors invite the community to celebrate at new member Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Thursday, June 25 at 10am for Jamie’s Freedom Semi-Truck & Trailer Parts.
Jamie’s Freedom Semi-Truck & Trailer Parts is a locally family owned and operated business. Shelby county native Jamie Killen, wife Layla and daughter Josalynn black have built this store from the ground up. They started working out of a storage building, quickly outgrowing the space.
June 10, 2026 - Planning is underway for the 50th East Texas Poultry Festival, presented by Farmers State Bank. The Poultry Festival will be held October 1st-3rd on the historic downtown Center square. Arts and Crafts vendor applications are being accepted at the Shelby County Chamber office until Friday, September 11th. All creative art divisions and are open to Youth (6th through 12th grades) and Adults (17 and older). The art division will also be open to Elementary (K – through 5th). The Creative Arts Show is sponsored by Doches Credit Union.
