Chamber Health Care Committee Hosting April Lunch and Learn

April 18, 2023 - The Chamber of Commerce Health Care Committee is hosting the April Lunch and Learn on Wednesday, April 26th at noon at the AgriLife Extension Office. The guest speaker for April will be Whitney Burran, Executive Director of the Family Crisis Center of East Texas.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. In statement given earlier this month, Governor Greg Abbott encouraged Texans to help raise awareness of sexual assault and recognize the courage of survivors across the state and nation throughout the month of April.

Chamber Announces Winners of Grill Fest 2023

April 3, 2023 - The Shelby County Chamber of Commerce announces the official results of the Shelby County Grill Fest barbecue cook-off competition held Friday and Saturday, March 31 and April 1 at the Shelby County Expo arena.

Grand Champion – Chase-N-Moore Smoke from Friendswood, Texas. Head cook was Shawn Moore.
Reserve Grand Champion – Squeals on wheels from Bardwell, Texas. Head cook was David Lefler.

Washer Pitching Tournament, 42 Tournament at Grill Fest (Today)

March 31, 2023 - Join the Fun at Grill Fest next weekend, March 31st and April 1st. In addition to sampling great barbeque you can participate in the 42 Tournament and the Washer Pitching Tournament, both sponsored by Shelby Savings Bank.

Both events will be held on Friday evening this year. Registration for the 42 Tournament begins at 5:30 and the Tournament begins at 6:00. Please note, this is an hour earlier than in the past. Registration fee is $10.00 per person / $20.00 per team. Winning team takes the jackpot prize.

Grill Fest, Presented by Farmers State Bank This Weekend!

March 28, 2023 - Cook teams from Texas and Louisiana will be competing for prize money this weekend at the Annual Grill Fest Presented by Farmers State Bank at the Shelby County Expo Center on Highway 7 East.  Cooking starts Friday evening along with the 42 Tournament and Washer Pitching Tournament.  The “Open” Adult Beverage and “Open” Food Competition will be held Friday night 7pm and 8pm respectively.

Judging takes place on Saturday starting with the Bloody Mary competition at 10am. There is still time to enter!

Joe’s Italian Restaurant Hosting New Member, Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting

January 27, 2023 - The Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors and Staff invite the public to join them at a New Member/Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting for Joe’s Italian Restaurant on Wednesday, February 1 at 10:30 am. They are located at 130 Nacogdoches Street in Center on the Historic Downtown Square and are open Tuesday through Sunday 11:00 am until 9:00 pm.

Chamber Announces New Member Ribbon Cutting for Amethyst Beauty Bar (11am)

January 13, 2023 - Amethyst Beauty Bar, the newest member of the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce is having a new member Ribbon Cutting on Friday, January 13th at 11:00am. The public is invited to join the celebration!!

Amethyst Beauty Bar is a full service hair salon, owned and operated Alexis Pickett. Alexis has 10 years experience in hair care. She offers hair coloring services, color corrections, hair cuts, Brazilian Blowout, flat tip extensions and hand tied extensions. She specializes in blonding, color corrections and Brazilian Blowouts.

Chamber of Commerce Seeks Award Nominations

December 26, 2022 - The 100th Annual Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Celebration & Awards, presented by Farmers State Bank, will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023. We will celebrate and recognize the achievements of 2022 and welcome a new year.  

The highlight of  the Celebration is our Awards presentations the Farm Family of the Year award, Young Citizen of  the Year award and the Distinguished Service Award.
