March 18, 2024 - The Annual Grill Fest, Presented by Farmers State Bank, was held last weekend at the rodeo arena. Area cook teams competed for prize money. There were also jackpot competitions, a washer pitching and 42 tournament, karaoke and entertainment.
March 6, 2024 - Join the Fun at Grill Fest next weekend, March 15th and March 16th. In addition to sampling great barbeque you can participate in the 42 Tournament and the Washer Pitching Tournament, both sponsored by Shelby Savings Bank.
Both events will be held on Friday evening this year. Registration for the 42 Tournament begins at 5:30pm and the Tournament begins at 6pm. Registration fee is $10 per person/$20 per team. Winning team takes the jackpot prize.
March 11, 2024 - Cook teams from Texas and Louisiana will be competing for prize money this weekend at the Annual Grill Fest Presented by Farmers State Bank at the Shelby County Expo Center on Highway 7 East. Cooking starts Friday evening along with the 42 Tournament and Washer Pitching Tournament. Friday night is also Karaoke Night 8-10pm. The Margarita and “Open” Food Competition will be held Friday night 7:00 and 8:00 respectively.
March 5, 2024 - March Please join Briseida Pastrana, Owner of Mr. Doggo and the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors at a New Member Ribbon Cutting on Wednesday, March 13th at 10:30am. Mr. Doggo is located at 176 US Hwy 96 N. The public is invited to attend to celebrate.
February 22, 2024 - Paul Wright and the team at Wright Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram invite the public to join them in celebrating 20 Years in Business! The Celebration will be held Friday, March 8th from 10:30am until 2pm at the dealership located at 1858 Tenaha Street.
The Shelby County Cookers will be cooking hamburgers.
February 21, 2024 - Lunch and Learns are back with a new name, Wellness Wednesdays. Wellness Wednesdays will continue to be held on the 4th Wednesday of each month at 12 noon at the Extension Office with great speakers.
This month’s Wellness Wednesday is February 28th. The students of Center High School’s Culinary department will be making healthy snack options. Danbert Collum, owner of The Forge, will talk about the importance of fitness and talk about healthy meal prepping. We are looking forward to a very fun and informative session.
