Library Summer Program Welcomes Smokey Bear

June 20, 2024 - Another great program happened at the Fannie Brown Booth Library for the library Summer Reading/Discovery Programs in Center this past Thursday. The library Summer Reading programs are sponsored by the Center Noon Lions Club.

Laura Stephens, Kim Sowell, and other Texas A&M Forest Service staff were on hand to present a timely program on preventing wildfires, showed firefighter gear, and told what the Forest Service does.

A large group of children, parents, and grandparents enjoyed the presentation. Laura read the story of Smokey Bear who will celebrate his 80th birthday in August. Smokey made a guest appearance for photo ops. The children had the opportunity to create and submit a picture that might be included in a new Smokey Bear calendar. Thank you Texas A&M Forest Service for a great program!

Friday's program will be Crafts at the Library at 10:30 am for grades 6th through Adults.
