Major Crash Occurs at SH 7 West, FM 711

May 7, 2019 - State Highway 7 West and the intersection of FM 711 was the scene of a major two-vehicle crash Tuesday, May 7, 2019, which resulted in one driver being taken to the emergency room.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety State Trooper Cpl. Jimmy Faulkner, at 6:50am a black Kenworth truck-tractor owned by Fluid Disposal Specialties and diven by David Hopkins, 65, of Marshal was hauling a trailer load of dry concrete westbound and was stopping to turn onto FM 711.

At that time a black Toyota Camry XLE driven by Wesley Bromley, 22, was westbound in the same lane as the Kenworth when he failed to control speed and struck the right rear of the trailer. 

The Toyota received major damage and came to a halt in the outside westbound lane facing south.

Bromley was transported by ambulance to Nacogdoches Medical Center - Shelby Emergency Department for treatment of injury.

Bromley was issued a citation for failure to control speed.

The Center Fire Department and Shelby County Sheriff's Department assisted with traffic control and ambulance personnel in moving Bromley to the ambulance.
