March 28, 2019 - The annual Mike Wood Scholarship Fundraiser will be held on Saturday, April 6th.
Mike was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Joaquin, mayor of Joaquin, a biology teacher at Joaquin ISD for years, a fire chief at Joaquin Volunteer Fire Dept. as well as a valued member of the Masonic Lodge for years. He was also a devoted husband, father and grandfather as well as a friend of most everyone around Joaquin and neighboring communities.
The Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge and Volunteer Fire Dept. have joined forces to raise money for scholarships in his name. This year the Methodist Church is honored to host a catfish dinner with all the trimmings on the church grounds on Saturday, April 6, beginning around 10:30 in the morning until we sell out of fish.
Please come and join in the fellowship and help raise monies for higher education that Mike believed in for all students.
