Nacogdoches Medical Center Earns ‘A’ Grade for Patient Safety from National Leapfrog Group (Pd Adv)

November 30, 2022 – East Texans can be proud to know that when it comes to patient safety, Nacogdoches Medical Center (NMC) is at the top among hospitals nationwide. This fall, NMC has received an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group. This national distinction celebrates Nacogdoches Medical Center’s achievements in protecting hospital patients from preventable harm and errors.

This is the second ‘A’ rating in a row this year that NMC has earned from The Leapfrog Group. Jeff Patterson, CEO of NMC Health Network, said this achievement is a result of the dedication of the staff who commit themselves to putting their patients’ safety first.  “We are very proud to consistently be recognized for the outstanding efforts our staff make every day to protect our patients,” Patterson said. “Our East Texas community can take comfort in knowing they are in good hands when they walk through our doors,” he said.

The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization with a 10-year history of assigning letter grades to general hospitals throughout the United States, based on a hospital’s ability to prevent medical errors and harm to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public. Hospital Safety Grade results are based on more than 30 national performance measures and are updated each fall and spring.

“I applaud Nacogdoches Medical Center’s leadership and workforce for their strong commitment to safety and transparency,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “An ‘A’ Safety Grade is a sign that a hospital is continuously evaluating their performance, so that they can best protect patients. Your hospitals’ teams should be extremely proud of their dedication and achievement,” Binder said.
