NWS Tornado Warning for Southern Shelby County

March 9, 2016 - The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for Shelby County and surrounding areas. Areas included are northeastern San Augustine County and Southeastern Shelby County until 9am CST.

At 8:18am CST a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 5 miles southwest of San Augustine, or 21 miles south of Center, moving northeast at 35mph.

Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely. 

This dangerous storm will be near Bland Lake around 8:30am CST, Patroon around 8:45am CST.

Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include Jordan's Store, Calgary, Hurstown, Chinaquapin, Denning and Huxley.
