Over 70,000 Florida Strain Bass Released into Toledo Bend Reservoir

June 20, 2023 - Sabine River Authority of Texas (SBA) recently released 77,000 Florida Strain Largemouth Bass Fingerlings into Toledo Bend Reservoir. The fingerlings purchased by SRA from Tyler Fish Farm released in coordination with the Inland Fisheries Division of Texas Parks and Wildlife. The fingerlings were released in the East Hamilton and Bayou Siepe area of the reservoir. Improving the quality or recreational fishing at Toledo Bend remains an ongoing initiative of SRA with recent investments in artificial fish habitat and new boat ramp facilities.

David Montagne, SRA's Executive Vice-President and General Manager, stated, "At SRA we are making substantial investments to promote recreational opportunities on Toledo Bend and with this project we are continuing to strengthen Toledo Bend's aquatic ecosystem and improve fishing on the reservoir. I would like to thank our partners at Texas Parks and Wildlife, who assisted our Toledo Bend Division in releasing the fingerlings."

The Sabine River Authority was created by the Legislature in 1949 as an official agency of the State of Texas and covers all or part of 21 counties in East Texas. The Authority serves as a conservation and reclamation district with responsibilities to control, store, preserve, and distribute the waters of the Sabine River and its tributary streams for useful purposes.
