Panola Men fall to San Jac on the road, 86-71

January 4, 2015 Pasadena, TX – The Panola College men’s basketball team lost to San Jac in Pasadena, Texas Monday evening, 86-71. With the loss, Panola drops their record to 12-4 overall and 3-2 in Region XIV play. “We looked like a team that hadn’t played a game in 20 days.” Said Head Coach Grant McMillan. “The effort was there, we played hard. We just didn’t pay enough attention to some small details throughout the game.” He added.

The Ponies fell behind as much as 17 points in the first half before cutting San Jac’s lead to 12 before halftime, 44-32. Panola cut the 12 point deficit to single digits multiple times in the second half but could never scratch any closer than seven points.

Leading Panola was Jonathan Wiley (Houston) who recorded a double-double in the loss. Wiley netted 16 points and chased down 10 rebounds. Others in double figures were Charles Tucker (Lansing, Michigan) with 13 and both Chan Williams-Bey (Hartford, Connecticut) and Terry Holt (Nashville, Tennessee) adding 11. Panola shot a season low 16 percent from the three point line in the loss and only made 23 field goals for the game.

Panola will continue Region XIV play this upcoming Wednesday January 6th when the host Jacksonville College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM following the women’s game.
