Panola Men Fall to Trinity Valley, 76-60

January 14, 2016 - Athens, Texas – The Panola College men’s basketball team fell to Trinity Valley Community College, 76-60 here Wednesday Night. The loss drops their record to 14-5 and 5-3 and Region 14 play. “I was proud of our effort and half-court defense all game long.” Head Coach Grant McMillan said. “We have to convert plays around the rim in such a high level ball game.” He added.

Panola took a 6 point lead, 22-16 with just under 10 minutes remaining in the half before trailing heading into the locker room, 36-34. Trinity Valley used a 15-6 run to start the second half to begin pulling away. Panola closed the game to eight points on several occasions but never got any closer.

Leading the Ponies offensively was Charles Tucker (Lansing, Michigan) who recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 assists. Jonathan Wiley (Houston, Texas) and Tyonte Robertson (Cincinnati, Ohio) also scored in double figures with 10 points each. Tope Arikawe (Nigeria) recorded four blocks in the loss. As a team Panola only shot 39 percent from the field.

Panola will next be in action this upcoming Saturday, January 17th when they host Paris Junior College. Tip-off is set for 4:00 PM at Arthur Johnson Gymnasium on the Campus of Panola College in Carthage, Texas.
