December 19, 2019 - My name is Sean Permenter and I am announcing my candidacy for the office of Justice of the Peace Precinct 3 in the Republican Primary. I have given this decision a lot of thought and many prayers to seek the unexpired term of Margie Anderson.
I was born at Barksdale Air Force Base and have lived most of my life here in Joaquin. I am a 1965 graduate of Joaquin High School and a proud Army veteran.
My wife, Joyce and I have called Shelby County, specifically South Paxton, home for the past 36 years. We are the proud parents of three children, Amie Modglin (Las Vegas), Eric Permenter (Joaquin) and Roxanne Galey (deceased). We have seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.
I have volunteered with non-profit organizations throughout the years, Joaquin Athletic Booster Club, Hogs and Rams for MDA, What-A-Melon Festival, Children’s Advocacy Center, Shelby County Sheriff’s Posse, Christmas fundraisers for local children just to name a few.
After returning to Shelby County, I was blessed to work for Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for 25 years. During my tenure with the State, I was trained in all aspects of public issues as well as what I have learned through my years of experience with individuals. One of my duties at TxDOT was responding to and investigating all fatalities on Shelby County highways.
During my tenure, I have worked with police departments, Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety and all fire departments in Shelby County regarding accidents, floods, dead animals, trees down, etc.
I have been trained in OSHA rules and regulations with two years’ experience as Safety Director at Salty’s Manufacturing, along with many courses taken while being a State employee.
As Supervisor of Shelby County (TxDOT), I tried to be fair and just for all and will continue to do that for Precinct 3.
A Justice of the Peace is someone that you know, trust, is dedicated to the position, honest and fair. I am that person.
