November 17, 2025 - My name is John Pope, and I’m honored to announce my candidacy for Shelby County Constable, Precinct 5 in the upcoming March 3, 2026 Republican Primary.
I began serving as Deputy Constable for Pct. 5 in March 2024, and was appointed Constable in August 2025. It’s been a privilege to serve our community, and I look forward to continuing to do so with honesty, integrity, and dedication.
I’m a lifetime resident of Shelby County and have called Timpson home since 2019. I’m a member of Old Home Baptist Church in Paxton and the Timpson Masonic Lodge #437. My wife, Angela, and I have been married for 20 years and are blessed with three wonderful children — Dawson, Briley, and Raegan.
Since graduating from the Kilgore Police Academy in 2003, I’ve worked in nearly every aspect of law enforcement — from Chief of Police to Criminal Investigations and Narcotics.
I’m committed to serving the citizens of Precinct 5 and continuing to build strong relationships throughout Shelby County. I look forward to meeting with you and answering any questions you may have along the way.
Together, we can keep Precinct 5 a safe and connected community for all.
— John Pope
