Portions of Shelby County Under Severe Thunderstorm Warning

March 31, 2023 - The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Southwestern De Soto Parish in northwestern Louisiana, Southeastern Panola County in northeastern Texas, Northern Shelby County in eastern Texas.

Until 730pm CDT.

At 641pm CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Tenaha, or 11 miles south of Carthage, moving east at 45 mph.

Hazard...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

Source...Radar indicated.

Impact...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include: Mansfield, Logansport, Tenaha, Timpson, Joaquin, South Mansfield, Gary City, Keachi, Grand Cane, Longstreet, Stanley, Woods and Paxton.

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 900 PM CDT for northwestern Louisiana and eastern and northeastern Texas.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect for the warned area. Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. Although a tornado is not immediately likely, if one is spotted, act quickly and move to a place of safety inside a sturdy structure such as a basement or small interior room.
