September 10, 2015 - Rooster Revel 2015 Meet the Artist was held on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Center High School introducing the freshly completed projects of several students.
The 20 metal art silhouettes were presented in the classroom of Kathy Sawyer with Jessica Shadix and Center High School Agribusiness and Marketing students. Business owners and members of the community were present to see the new art and meet the artists.
"We're very proud of our Ad Marketing students that are learning the value not only of creating artwork, but also being involved with the community," said Sawyer. "This is a joint effort between the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce and Center High School."
Businesses in the community will display the Rooster Revels inside of and in front of their facilities until the Doo Dah Parade on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 where the artwork will be displayed on a float. Following the parade, at 5pm, the revels will be auctioned off on the Center square and the proceeds will go to benefit the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce and the Center High School Agribusiness and Marketing Department.
"What happens is a student, students, work on our plasma cam which is in the shop which is a machine that uses the AutoCAD program," said Shadix.
Shadix described how Andres Leon, a student, hand drew the design for the Rooster Revel on the AutoCAD program and then cut out all of the copies of the design last year. Shadix then introduced each of the students and especially commended Leon for his work and working together with the other students on several of the projects.
