August 16, 2024 - Notice is hereby given that a Special meeting of the Governing body of the Shelby County Commissioners’ Court will be held on the 21st day of August, 2024 at 9:30am in the Courtroom of the Shelby County Courthouse at 200 San Augustine Street, Center, Shelby County, Texas to deliberate and consider action on the following items:
1. Approve weekly expenses.
2. Public Comments on Agenda item.
Executive Session:
An Executive Session will be held for the consideration of specific personnel matters and to consult with the County Attorney. The closed session is authorized by Texas Open Meeting Act, Texas Gov’t Code 551.074, 551.075 and 551.071.
3. Reopen public meeting.
4. Review the latest Texas Commission on Jail Standards inspection report for the Shelby County Jail which was conducted on July 18, 2024.
5. Discuss and possibly request bids to repair lightning, electrical, and water issues with the Shelby County Jail cells.
6. Delbert Jackson to address the Court regarding Historical Markers for the Historical Courthouse lawn.
7. Shelby County Constables to give an update on the recent purchase of Rapid Radios.
8. Discuss 2024 proposed tax rate, take record vote and schedule Public Hearing.
9. Announce the 2024-2025 Proposed Budget was filed on Wednesday August 14th, 2024 for public inspection in the County Clerk’s office as required by Local Government Code, Section.111.006.
10. Discuss and possibly make a decision on filing for Public Assistance on DR 4798 – Hurricane Beryl.
11. COMMISSIONERS COURT REPORTS: These are for information purposes only. Any action that needs to be taken on the basis of these reports will be placed on a future agenda for action.
