SCOM Seeking Donations for Meals on Wheels

September 11, 2015 - Sherry Harding and Josh White with Shelby County Outreach Ministries are hitting the street to raise funds for the meals on wheels program.

"We average a thousand [meals] a month that's not being paid and last month alone was over 1,200 that wasn't paid, and the majority of those are shut-ins," said Harding.

Through the meals on wheels program, 996 meals were delivered last month and 1,200 were provided intotal. Only one $40 donation from a client was received last month, according to Harding.

Although DETCOG pays for about 300 meals for a month, it doesn't cover the majority of what SCOM provides to those in need.

If you're hungry, or just want to donate, hamburgers will continue to be for sale at their location at the intersection of Shelbyville Street and Martin Luther King Drive in Center until 2pm. Any additional donations are also welcome.

Donations can be sent to Shelby County Outreach Ministries P.O. Box 1029, Center, Texas
