SCT Viewer Warns of Publishers Clearing House Scam

June 17, 2020 - Shelby County Today received an email from a viewer reporting they had received a scam call and they wanted to share their experience to warn others.

Evelyn Adams received a call on June 17th from someone claiming to be from Publishers Clearing House. She didn't answer the call and let it go to voice mail. The number was 876-366-6627 and the caller said he was Larry Davidson. He wanted to talk to me about "a blank million dollar prize plus a bonus of $175,000 cash," and to call or message him back.

After looking it up online, Adams found numerous complaints about the caller that said it's a fraud/scam call from Jamaica trying to get money. Some of the google search entries listed Larry Davidson as fraudulent and to view the articles:

The articles also advise that Publishers Clearing House doesn't call ahead to notify you of a prize.
