Secret Santa Enlists Officers to Deliver Surprise Christmas Gifts

December 16, 2014 - Secret Santa once again visited the Center Police Department enlisting the help of two officers to help deliver surprise Christmas gifts to unsuspecting travelers.

Lieutenant Jeremy Bittick and Sergeant Ricky King were the two lucky officers who were given the opportunity to spread Christmas cheer on Friday, December 11, 2015.

Most of the gifts were distributed by way of initiating traffic stops and then presenting the unsuspecting drivers with an envelope with the Center Police Department shield and "In God We Trust" printed on the outside. Each recipient of the gift opened their letter to find a $100 bill and Christmas wishes from the anonymous Santa and the Center Police Department.

In total $1,000 was distributed by Santa's helpers dressed in blue. This is the second year Secret Santa has enlisted officers to help spread the Christmas joy.

This year the experience seemed to have a little more meaning, as 2015 has been heavy laden with national news telling tales of unfortunate incidents between officers and citizens. Secret Santa filled the day with positive experiences and those receiving the gift were extremely grateful. Some were quiet and a little shocked to say the least, others responded with great big hugs, some shed a few tears, but all felt the Christmas spirit around them.

The officers enjoyed the opportunity of sharing good news and goodwill with all. Thank you Secret Santa.

Special thanks to Police Chief Jim Albers for allowing his officers to help Secret Santa deliver some early Christmas presents!

Merry Christmas to all!
