Severe Thunderstorm Warning Includes Portions of Shelby County (Updated)

May 2, 2019 - (Update 10:22pm): Significant Weather Advisory for Western De Soto and Southwestern Caddo Parishes, Northeastern Panola and Northeastern Shelby Counties until 11pm CDT.

At 10:04pm CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Joaquin to near Beckville. Movement was northeast at 45 mph.

Half inch hail and winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with these storms.


The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Southwestern Panola County in northeastern Texas, Southeastern Rusk County in northeastern Texas, North central Nacogdoches County in eastern Texas, Northwestern Shelby County in eastern Texas until 10:15pm CDT.

At 9:22pm CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Garrison, or 19 miles northeast of Nacogdoches, moving northeast at 45 mph.

Hazard: 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

Impact: Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include Center, Tenaha, Timpson, Garrison, Gary City, James, Dotson, Stockman, Woods, Lawsonville and Paxton.
