SH 7 East, SL 500 Scene of Two-Vehicle Crash

September 6, 2022 - State Loop 500 and State Highway 7 East was once again the scene of a major crash which occurred on Saturday, September 3, 2022, involving two pickup trucks.

Both of the vehicles involved were located on the northwest corner of the intersection when emergency personnel began arriving on scene. After San Augustine County EMS arrived to help those involved, Allegiance EMS also arrived at the location.

According to Center Police Officer Michael Davidson, at around 10:15am a black Ford Raptor pickup truck driven by Heath Harper, 44, of Joaquin was westbound on State Highway 7 approaching SL 500.

At that time a silver 2022 Ford Maverick pickup truck driven by Walter Parker, 48, of Campti, Louisiana was northbound, failed to come to a stop and entered the intersection with State Highway 7 failing to yield to cross traffic. This caused the Raptor to strike the Maverick causing damage to both vehicles.

Walter Parker and the 17-year-old were transported by ambulance to Nacogdcoches Medical Center in Nacogdoches for treatment of their injuries.

Mellisa was flown by PHI helicopter to LSU medical facility in Shreveport, La. for treatment of her injuries.
