SH 7 in Joaquin Scene of Two-Vehicle Crash

April 7, 2017 - Emergency personnel was dispatched to a two-vehicle crash Wednesday, April 5, 2017 just inside the city limits of Joaquin.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety State Trooper Taylor Buster, at around 4pm a black 2004 Nissan car driven by Basil Peterson, 29, of Joaquin was exiting from a private driveway. Peterson failed to yield right of way to westbound traffic on State Highway 7 causing a white 2007 GMC Sierra driven by Tanya Andrews, 53, of Center to strike the front of the Nissan with the front right quarter panel of the truck, causing major damage to the Nissan.

The Nissan remained in the driveway, while Andrews brought the truck to a stop on the other side of the roadway facing east.

ACE EMS responded to the scene and all involved refused treatment.

Peterson was issued two citations for fail to yield right of way private drive, and displaying expired registration.
