SH 87 South at FM 414 Scene of Single-Vehicle Crash

December 3, 2021 - State Highway 87 South just past the intersection of FM 414 was the scene of a single-vehicle crash Friday, December 3, 2021.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety State Trooper David Shields, at around 6:30am a Grey 2005 Dodge Durango occupied by an 18-year-old male with a 16-year-old male was southbound on State Highway 87 South.

After passing FM 414 the Durango was traveling at an unsafe speed for roadway conditions, which caused the driver to lose control of the Durango and travel off the roadway to the left and into the northbound bar ditch. The Durango then traveled up an embankment and rolled multiple time before coming to rest upright facing the roadway.

The driver and passenger were examined by Emergency Medical Services at the scene and they refused treatment for minor injuries.

No citations were issued at the time of the crash and the Durango was towed from the scene.

Shelby County Sheriff’s Department, Shelbyville Volunteer Fire Department and Center Police Department assisted with traffic control until the scene was clear.
