SH 87 South Near CR 2050 Scene of Major Crash Incident

November 2, 2022 - Emergency crews responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash Monday, October 31, 2022, on State Highway 87 South just over one mile from Shelbyville near CR 2050.

Center Fire Department personnel were requested to assist with Jaws-of-Life in helping to extricate the passenger from the vehicle. When it was determined the vehicle involved was partially on top of the passenger, Center Fire Department used a winch to help pull the truck away so emergency medical services could move the passenger to an ambulance for transport from the scene

Shelby County Sheriff's Department personnel were on scene and assisted, as well as Constable from Precinct 2 and Precinct 1.

According to details from the Texas Department of Public Safety, the preliminary investigation indicates that at approximately 9:50am, a tan 2006 Ford pickup truck was traveling north. It is reported that the pickup left the roadway to the left and struck a light pole. It continued forward and struck a 1997 Cadillac passenger car, which was parked on private property and then overturned on its right side.

The driver, identified as Jamal Henderson, 35, of Shelbyville, was not injured. His passenger, Charmenia Adams-Henderson, 25, was transported to LSU Shreveport for treatment.
