Shelby County Football for Week 11

November 3, 2025 - Halloween wasn’t a thriller for most of the Shelby County Varsity Football teams as the Joaquin Rams were the only team to improve their season with a win for the week 10 of competition. Center and Joaquin have both assured their advancement to the playoffs. This last week of District play will decide the fate of whether Timpson's or Shelbyville's season is ending or continuing.

Center Roughriders are currently 3rd in District and their playoff advancement is set even though they fell to the 2nd ranked Athens last Friday, October 31 with a final score of 44-26. The Roughriders are now 4-5 overall and 2-2 in District 8 4A-2 conference play. Center will travel to Rusk Friday, November 7 to play in Eagle Stadium with a 7:30pm game time for the final week of District play. The Eagles are 1-8, 1-3 after a 56–3 loss to Carthage who is currently 1st in District.

The Joaquin Rams defeated the Shelbyville Dragons Friday, October 31 by a 34-10 final score. With the Rams being 3rd in their District, they have sealed their advancement to the playoffs. The Rams will host the 2nd ranked Garrison Bulldogs at home on Thursday, November 6 at 7:30pm. Joaquin and Garrison both have a 6-3 overall and 3-1 in District. However, Garrison pulls ahead with a total of (PF) 310 points scored and (PA) 199 points scored against them and Joaquin has (PF) 270 points scored for the season (a 40 point difference) and (PA) 169 points scored against them (a 30 point difference). The week 11 matchup will definitely determine the 2nd and 3rd place rankings for District play. If first place ranked San Augustine (4-0, 7-2) loses their game to Timpson, Joaquin or Garrison could slide into first and win the District Championship title. It is a long shot with San Augustine’s PF of 277 and PA of 132.

The Shelbyville Dragons fell to the Joaquin Rams last week by a 34-10 score. The Dragons stand at 2-7 overall and 1-3 in the conference. Shelbyville will travel to Hornet Stadium on Friday, November 7 for a 7:30pm kickoff against Hemphill who is 1-8, 0-4. If Timpson loses to San Augustine and Shelbyville finishes the final week of District play with a win, they will move up a spot in District ranking and advance to the playoffs.

Timpson Bears lost to the Garrison Bulldogs with a final score of 30-14 at Bulldog Stadium on Friday, October 31. Their season stands at 3-6 overall and 1-3 in District 11 2A-1. The Bears will face the number one ranked team in their District, the San Augustine Wolves, on Friday, November 7 at home at Eakin Stadium with kickoff at 7:30pm. The Wolves are 7-2, 4-0 following their 49-0 win against Hemphill. It’s a tough week for the Bears as their spot in the playoffs is in jeopardy if they lose their game and the Shelbyville Dragons win. It may come to the PF and PA to determine which team advances to the playoffs.

The Tenaha Tigers’ District 11 2A-2 season ended with their loss to the Grapeland Sandies 53-18 in Raymond Jackson Stadium. It was a tough season for the Tigers as they ended 0-6 in District and 1-9 overall.
