Shelby County Grand Jury Delivers 110 Indictments

May 17, 2021 - A Shelby County Grand Jury handed down 110 indictments including several relating to a vehicle crash in 2020 that resulted in the deaths of five Tuesday, April 27, 2021.

The grand jury was impaneled for the July 2020 term of the 123rd Judicial District Court, and grand jury was held in both the 123rd and 273rd Judicial District courts. Due to COVID-19, there has been a backlog of cases and the grand jury impaneled just before pandemic restrictions were put in place is meeting once again to complete their duties.

Michael David Masterson was indicted for manslaughter, second degree felony. The indictment alleges Masterson, on August 16, 2020, recklessly caused the death of an individual, M.M., by operating a motor vehicle at an unreasonable speed, and/or by failing to maintain a single lane of traffic, resulting in a collision with a 2019 GMC truck.

Michael David Masterson was indicted for manslaughter, second degree felony. The indictment alleges Masterson, on August 16, 2020, recklessly caused the death of an individual, E.M., by operating a motor vehicle at an unreasonable speed, and/or by failing to maintain a single lane of traffic, resulting in a collision with a 2019 GMC truck.

Michael David Masterson was indicted for manslaughter, second degree felony. The indictment alleges Masterson, on August 16, 2020, recklessly caused the death of an individual, M.P., by operating a motor vehicle at an unreasonable speed, and/or by failing to maintain a single lane of traffic, resulting in a collision with a 2019 GMC truck.

Michael David Masterson was indicted for manslaughter, second degree felony. The indictment alleges Masterson, on August 16, 2020, recklessly caused the death of an individual, V.H., by operating a motor vehicle at an unreasonable speed, and/or by failing to maintain a single lane of traffic, resulting in a collision with a 2019 GMC truck.

Michael David Masterson was indicted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, second degree felony, The indictment alleges Masterson, on August 16, 2020, recklessly caused bodily injury to M.P. by operating a motor vehicle at an unreasonable speed, and/or by failing to maintain a single lane of traffic which resulted in a collision with a 2019 GMC truck. The indictment further states Masterson exhibited a deadly weapon in that of a 2010 Toyota Tundra.

The indictment alleges Masterson, on August 16, 2020, recklessly caused the death of an individual, Sandra Parks, by operating a motor vehicle at an unreasonable speed, and/or by failing to maintain a single lane of traffic, resulting in a collision with a 2019 GMC truck.

Alfredo Dalton Ramires was indicted for intoxication manslaughter, second degree felony. The indictment alleges Ramires, on July 11, 2020, operated a motor vehicle in a public place while intoxicated, and did by reason of such intoxication cause the death of Kailey Agnew by wrecking a Jeep, causing it to flip over on Agnew.

Jerry James Bell was indicted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, second degree felony. The indictment alleges Bell, on August 31, 2020, recklessly caused bodily injury to Ricky Robinson by striking him multiple times with an aluminum bat during the assault.

Brandon Cummings was indicted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, second degree felony. The indictment alleges Cummings, on July 24, 2020, recklessly threatened Elizabeth Barton with imminent bodily injury while exhibiting a knife during said assault.

Romel Crump was indicted for injury to a child, elderly or disabled individual, state jail felony. The indictment alleges Crump, on August 15, 2020, caused bodily injury to a 14-year-old child by hitting her in the face and causing her lip to bleed.

Gabriel Hernandez was indicted for deadly conduct, third degree felony. The indictment alleges Hernandez, on December 12, 2020, discharged a firearm in the direction of Shadarian Rasheem Hall.

Jimmy Drew Harris was indicted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, second degree felony. The indictment alleges Harris, on September 8, 2020, recklessly caused bodily injury to Kody James Newman by shooting him in the left forearm with a Jimenez 9mm semiautomatic pistol.

Jimmy Drew Harris was indicted for deadly conduct, third degree felony. The indictment alleges Harris, on September 8, 2020, recklessly caused bodily injury to discharge a firearm in the direction of Big Texas Hair. The indictment further alleges Harris was reckless as to whether the business was occupied when firing the weapon at individuals.

Kody James Newman was indicted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, second degree felony. The indictment alleges Newman, on September 8, 2020, recklessly caused bodily injury to Jimmy Drew Harris by causing Harris to be in fear for his life when Newman exhibited a Bersa .380 semiautomatic pistol.

Craig Alan Borders was indicted for aggravated assault, second degree felony. The indictment alleges Borders, on July 7, 2020, recklessly caused bodily injury to Randy Fountain by striking him in the head with a pipe.

Joseph Rondell Gibson was indicted for assault - prior conviction, third degree felony. The indictment alleges Gibson, on August 17, 2020, recklessly caused bodily injury to Brittany Lewing, a member of Gibson's family as defined by the Family Code, by striking her in the nose. The indictment further states Gibson had previously been convicted of a similar offense under the Family Code.

Edward Benard Miles was indicted for assault family violence with prior conviction, second degree felony. The indictment alleges Miles, on October 19, 2020, recklessly caused bodily injury to Tyonronda Adams, a person whom Miles has or had a dating relationship with as defined by the Family Code, by hitting her in the face and ripping her shirt off. The indictment further states Miles had previously been convicted of a similar offense under the Family Code.

Darron McCollister was indicted for aggravated assault, second degree felony. The indictment alleges McCollister, on January 24, 2021, recklessly caused bodily injury to Sharon Polley by hitting her with a wooden stick.

Jose Rangel Vega was indicted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, second degree felony. The indictment alleges Vega, on August 1, 2020, recklessly caused bodily injury to Maria Guadalupe Vega by yelling and cursing at her in a very aggressive manner while exhibiting a kitchen knife.

Christopher Scott Tyre was indicted for sex offenders duty to register 10 years, state jail felony. The indictment alleges Tyre, on January 2, 2020, while knowing he was required to register with local law enforcement authority in the county where Tyre resided or intended to reside for more than seven days, namely Shelby County, because of a reportable conviction for indecent behavior with a juvenile/transmission of electronic communications, Tyre failed to register with the local law enforcement authority.

Christopher Scott Tyre was indicted for failure to register as a sex offender, state jail felony. The indictment alleges Tyre, on August 16, 2017, while being a person required to register with the local law enforcement authority in the county where Tyre resided or intended to reside for more than seven days, Shelby County, because of a reportable conviction of indecent behavior with a juvenile, intentionally or knowingly failed to register with the local law enforcement authority in Shelby County.

James Eric Raybon was indicted for unlawful possession of a firearm, third degree felony. The indictment alleges Raybon, on November 26, 2020, having previously been convicted of a felony offense, knowingly possessed a firearm after the fifth anniversary of Raybon's release from confinement following conviction of the previous felony at a location other than the premises where Raybon lives, Toledo Bend Reservoir.

James Eric Raybon was indicted for deadly conduct, third degree felony. The indictment alleges Raybon, on November 26, 2020, discharged a firearm at or in the direction of Cody Dwight Cooper.

Jerrard Jevon Dewalt was indicted for burglary of a building, state jail felony. The indictment alleges Dewalt, on May 15, 2020, entered a building without consent of Keith Byndom, the owner, and attempted to commit or committed theft of a ladder and pole saw owned by Byndom.

Cody Wayne Denby was indicted for criminal mischief, state jail felony. The indictment alleges Denby, on September 17, 2020, damaged or destroyed a house door, house window, air conditioner, television, dresser mirror, iPhone, window of a 2015 GMC Yukon, window of a 2019 Lincoln belonging to Pat Adams and Patti Redmon. It's alleged Denby caused pecuniary loss of $1,500 or more but less than $20,000.

Daniel Boyd Eaves was indicted for burglary of a habitation, second degree felony. The indictment alleges Eaves, on September 24, 2020, with intent to commit theft, entered a habitation without the effective consent of Bency Hooper, the owner.

Daniel Boyd Eaves was indicted for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, state jail felony. The indictment alleges Eaves, on July 6, 2020, operated a motor vehicle without consent of Latoya Howard, the owner.

Tydrick Jarome Davis was indicted for theft, state jail felony. The indictment alleges Davis, on November 6, 2020, took a hunter green 2019 Polaris 570 Sportsman four-wheeler, valued at $2,500 or more but less than $30,000 without consent of the owner Michael Brian Collins.

Tyquon Shonta Bussey was indicted for evading arrest, third degree felony. The indictment alleges Bussey, on January 8, 2020, intentionally fled in a vehicle from Deputy Josh Tipton.

Kay Frances Bussey was indicted for burglary of a habitation, second degree felony. The indictment alleges Bussey, on October 23, 2019, with intent to commit theft entered a habitation without the consent of the owner, Ruthie Latin.

Daniel Blaine Bushiey was indicted for burglary of a habitation, first degree felony. The indictment alleges Bushiey, on August 16, 2020, entered a habitation without consent of Kensi Shaw and Callye Goelden, the owners. The indictment further alleges, Bushiey attempted to commit or committed an assault against Shaw and Goelden.

Christopher Rashad Martin was indicted for evading arrest, third degree felony. The indictment alleges Martin, on September 17, 2020, intentionally fled in a vehicle from Officer Justin Whitton.

Jokevion Zajuan Leary was indicted for burglary of a habitation, second degree felony. The indictment alleges Leary, on August 8, 2020, with intent to commit theft entered a habitation without the consent of the owner, Luz Perez.

Heather Fowler was indicted for evading arrest, third degree felony. The indictment alleges Fowler, on October 8, 2020, intentionally fled in a vehicle from Constable Justin Fanguy.

Giovani Tyrone Johnson was indicted for unlawful possession of firearm, third degree felony. The indictment alleges Johnson, on November 16, 2020, having previously been convicted July 25, 2019 of the felony offense of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, knowingly possessed a firearm before the fifth anniversary of his release from confinement following that conviction.

Jodie Lynn Miller was indicted for theft, state jail felony. The indictment alleges Miller, on May 29, 2020, took a 28-foot Wildwood RV valued at $2,500 or more but less than $20,000 from the owner, Harby Davis, without Davis' consent.

Jamarious Preston was indicted for engaging in organized criminal activity, first degree felony. The indictment alleges Preston, on November 20, 2020, with intent to establish, maintain, or participate in a combination or in the profits of a combination, the combination consisting of Preston and Deondrick Jones, Sakendrick Calhoun and Jaterious McCallister, who collaborated in carrying on criminal activity, the offense of burglary of a habitation.

Jamarious Preston was indicted for burglary of a habitation, second degree felony. The indictment alleges Preston, on October 13, 2020, entered a habitation without the consent of the owner, Mack Hamilton and committed theft of property by taking 20-30 pairs of designer shoes owned by Hamilton.

Larry Dewayne Thomas was indicted for burglary of a building, state jail felony. The indictment alleges Thomas, on October 8, 2020, entered a building without the consent of the owner, City of Center and committed theft of a bow and additional items owned by City of Center.

Adria Simone Polley was indicted for evading arrest, state jail felony. The indictment alleges Polley fled in a vehicle from Corporal Steve Thornburgh.

Adria Simone Polley was indicted for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, state jail felony. The indictment alleges Polley, on November 28, 2020, operated a black Toyota Scion hatchback without the consent of the owner, Lashelda Hall.

Joseph Tyrelle Simpson was indicted for theft, state jail felony. The indictment alleges Simpson, on September 4, 2020, took a 2016 green Polaris Ranger 900 valued at $2,500 or more but less than $20,000 from the owner, Mary M. Schulze, without her consent.

Joaquin Pallares was indicted for assault on a public servant, third degree felony. The indictment alleges Pallares recklessly caused bodily injury to Officer Justin Whitton by attempting to grab Whitton's legs and drag him to the ground. The indictment further states Pallares knew Whitton was then and there a public servant, a Center Police Department officer attempting to arrest Pallares.

Ben Jefferson Osteen was indicted for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, state jail felony. The indictment alleges Osteen, on August 5, 2020, operated a motor vehicle without the consent of Robert Glen Redmon, the owner.

Hunter Paul Smith was indicted for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, state jail felony. The indictment alleges Smith, on July 30, 2020, operated a Chevrolet Silverado with ASP Swimming Pool on the body without the consent of Kara Bozeman, the owner.

Kristin Page Wilburn was indicted for evading arrest, state jail felony. The indictment alleges Wilburn, on May 18, 2020, used a vehicle to flee from Texas Department of Public Safety State Trooper Keith Jones, who was attempting to lawfully arrest or detain Wilburn.

Casey Denver Robison was indicted for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, state jail felony. The indictment alleges Robison, on January 24, 2020, operated an automobile without the consent of Gustavo Florencio.

Jermichael Cartrail White was indicted for evading arrest, state jail felony. The indictment alleges White, on July 29, 2019, used a vehicle to flee Officer Chris King.

Jermichael Cartrail White was indicted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, first degree felony. The indictment alleges White, on July 29, 2019, recklessly caused bodily injury to Michael Jones by shooting a firearm and striking Jones in the side of the neck while White was exhibiting an AK47.

Jermichael Cartrail White was indicted for burglary of a habitation, first degree felony. The indictment alleges White, on July 29, 2019, entered a habitation without the consent of the owner, Rachelle Walker. The indictment further alleges White attempted to commit or committed aggravated assault with a deadly weapon when entering the house with a firearm and searching for the occupant, and firing and striking the occupant as they exited the rear of the residence.

Zenas Montre Whitaker was indicted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, first degree felony. The indictment alleges Whitaker, on July 7, 2020, recklessly caused bodily injury to an individual by striking her repeatedly with a baseball bat about her face and body.

Zenas Montre Whitaker was indicted for aggravated sexual assault, first degree felony. The indictment alleges Whitaker, on July 7, 2020, caused penetration by Whitaker's sexual organ without consent. The indictment further alleges, Whitaker caused serious bodily injury to or attempted to cause the death of the same individual.
