Shelby County Judge Clears Illegal Dumping Site

October 27, 2014 - An area on County Road 2020 in Shelby County has been a large dumping site for some time now. Recently, according to Shelby County Judge Rick Campbell, he promised to clean up the area and on Thursday, October 23, 2014 the project was completed.

Judge Campbell commented on the seriousness of the dumping site, "I don't want people dumping on our county roads like they did here. It was bad, I mean it was the worst one I've ever seen."

As of Monday, October 27, 2014 the area remained clear with no new trash added to the area and a fence has been erected along the property line.

The Shelby County Commissioners provide dumpsters at the county barns in their area. For further information on their locations contact the Shelby County Commissioners Office at 936-598-6136.

The dumpster schedule for each area is as follows: Precinct 1 dumpster is available from 7am to 1pm the first weekend of every month. Precincts 2 and 3 have their dumpsters available during the week and during business hours, yet they are closed on the weekends. Precinct 5 has their dumpster available every other month making their next available day December 6. The schedule for Precinct 4 is not as regular and it is advised contact is made to learn of upcoming dates.
