Shelby County Livestock Show and Sale Raises Over $77,000 for Youth

(Additional livestock show and sale photos to be posted soon.)March 5, 2016 - Album1, Album2 - The 2016 Shelby County Livestock Sale raised over $77,000 for Shelby County youth Saturday evening, March 5, 2016 at the John D. Windham Civic Center. With Pete Stokes as the auctioneer, businesses and individuals raised money for FFA and 4-H youth who advanced to the sale from the Livestock Show held Thursday at the Rodeo Area.

The Grand Champion Steer which was shown by Megan Dunn (Center 4-H) was bought by Hawkeye Hunting Club for $6,750.

The Grand Champion Swine shown by Lance Holloway (Center 4-H) was bought by Borders Poultry Supply and Heritage Land Bank for $4,500.

Grand Champion Goat shown by Wesley Wages (Center 4-H) was bought by Farmers State Bank for $3,800.

Grand Champion Lamb shown by Jairo Blanco (Joaquin FFA) was bought by Texas State Bank, Shelby Veterinarian Association, Cockrell Farms, Toledo Finance, Shoop Insurance/LPL Financial/Cash Now, 96 Equipment, Steel Building Supply for $3,200.

Shelby County Livestock Show recognition and honors:
Ethan Wood of Joaquin FFA showed the Grand Champion Heifer, the Champion Exotic Division Heifer, and the Reserve Champion Exotic Division Heifer. Wood won the Junior Showmanship Buckle which is sponsored by Shelbyville FFA.

Abi Hooper of Joaquin FFA showed the Reserve Grand Champion Heifer, the Champion American Division Heifer, and the Reserve Champion English Division Heifer of the show. Hooper won the Senior Showmanship Class of the Beef Show and received a buckle sponsored by Joaquin FFA.

Baylor Kimbro of Timpson FFA showed the Reserve Champion American Division Heifer, the Grand Champion County Bred Heifer, and the Reserve Grand Champion County Bred Heifer of the show. He will also receive an award for $750 for winning the Grand Champion County Bred Heifer from Link Charlais and Dr. Derek Grant. For winning Reserve Grand Champion County Bred Heifer, he will receive $250 and a plaque from Link Charlais and Dr. Derek Grant. Mackey Cattle Company received a plaque for being the breeder of the winning County Bred Heifers.

Trey Harvey of Joaquin FFA showed the Champion English Division Heifer, Champion English Division Bull, Reserve Champion English Division Bull, Grand Champion Bull, and Reserve Grand Champion Bull.

Wesley Wages of Center 4-H showed the Grand Champion Breeding Doe Goat of the show. He won the Junior Showmanship Buckle at the Goat Show which is awarded by Timpson FFA.

Hannah Wages of Center 4-H showed the Reserve Grand Champion Breeding Doe Goat of the show.

Collin Vickers won the Senior Showmanship class at the Goat Show. The buckle is sponsored by Timpson FFA.

Kayleigh Scroggins of Timpson FFA showed the Grand Champion Breeding Ewe Lamb of the show. She won the Senior Showmanship class at the Lamb Show. The buckle is presented by Farm Bureau.

Sheldon Scroggins of Timpson FFA showed the Reserve Grand Champion Breeding Ewe Lamb of the show.

Caden Solomon won the Junior Showmanship Buckle at the Lamb Show which is awarded by Shelby County 4-H.

Madison McMillan won the Senior Showmanship Class at the Swine Show. The buckle is presented by Farm Bureau. Seth Shamblin won the Junior Showmanship Buckle at the Swine Show which is presented by Shelby County Farm Bureau.

Lane Loggins of Shelbyville 4-H Grand Champion Breeding Doe Rabbit of the show. Chandler Cartwright of Center FFA showed the Grand Champion Market Rabbit of the show. Zach Denby showed the Reserve Grand Champion Market Rabbit of the show. Kaylena Eaves of Tenaha FFA won 3rd place rabbit. Nicolas Anderson of Tenaha FFA won 4th place rabbit. Olivia Ford of Tenaha FFA won 5th place rabbit. Abbie Muckleroy of Center FFA won 6th place. Justin Carrol of Tenaha FFA won 7th place rabbit. Zack Fausett of Center FFA won 8th place rabbit.
