March 5, 2025 - - Shelbyville's Gifted and Talented (GT) students showcased their creativity and engineering skills in the Region 7 Fall Design Board competition, tying for 1st place among competitors from across the region.
The annual Fall Design Board competition determines the official board layout for the spring robotics competition, challenging students to design an innovative and functional board.
Competing against schools from across the region, Shelbyville's 4th-grade team-Xander Tomcavage, Camryn Prince, Jett Schillings, and Topher Ellington-rose to the top, earning a well-deserved first-place finish.
"This is an incredible accomplishment for our students," said Bailee Rash, GT Teacher. "Their dedication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills truly set them apart, and we are so proud of them!"
As a result of their achievement, the students' winning design will be used in the upcoming Spring Robotics Competition, where teams will apply their robotics skills in an exciting, hands-on challenge.
