Shelbyville HS Senior Molly Windham 2A Academic UIL State Feature Writing Champion

May 5, 2021 - Molly Windham has been competing in academic UIL since she was in elementary school. As a freshman, at the district meet she competed in One Act Play and all five journalism events: News Writing, Feature Writing, Editorial Writing, Headline Writing, and Copy Editing. She placed sixth in Feature Writing, second in News Writing, and competed at the Academic UIL 2A Regional Meet in News Writing. 

Her sophomore year, at the district meet she competed in all five journalism events, Ready Writing and One Act Play. She placed first in Editorial Writing, first in Ready Writing, third in Feature Writing, third in News Writing, fourth in Headline Writing, and honorable mention One Act Play all-star cast. She was the District 22AA high point individual scoring 64 points. At the Regional Meet, she competed in Editorial Writing, Feature Writing, Headline Writing, and Ready Writing. She placed third in Ready Writing and advanced to compete at the State Meet. Molly was the 2019 2A Ready Writing State Champion.

This year at the district level, she competed in all five journalism events, Ready Writing, Literary Criticism and One Act Play. She placed first in Feature Writing, third in Literary Criticism, was a member of the first place Literary Criticism team, second in Ready Writing, third in Headline Writing, and sixth in News Writing.

At regional, she competed in Feature Writing, Literary Criticism, Headline Writing, and Ready Writing. She placed first in Feature Writing, second in Ready Writing, and fourth in Headline Writing. She competed at state in Feature Writing and Ready Writing. At the 2021 Academic UIL Non-Speech State Meet, Molly placed third in Ready Writing and is the 2021 Feature Writing State Champion.
