June 8, 2021 - In accordance with 34 CFR 300.573 Destruction of Information, Shelbyville ISD Special Services will destroy the special education records of students whose last date of service was prior to 2014. This destruction of records will take place on or after August 1, 2021.
Parents are reminded that the special education records may be needed by the student or parents for social security benefits or other purposes. Shelbyville ISD Special Services will maintain a permanent record of each student's name, last known address, date of birth, and other data.
A request may be made by a parent/guardian or student of legal age that specific confidential records not be destroyed. That request must be in writing and received by the Shelbyville ISD Special Services office no later than July 1, 2021.
