On behalf of Shelbyville ISD, I want to thank all of the schools (Center, Diboll, Lufkin, Timpson, Joaquin, Garrison, Brookeland, West Sabine, and San Augustine) that participated at Shelbyville’s Special Olympics Track and Field Day on April 27th! It was a big success, and your participation meant a lot to us. Because of your support, our track and field day provided opportunities for individuals with special needs to be recognized for their athletic abilities. We had over 100 athletes participate in 20 events, ranging from 10 meter assisted races to throwing events.
Thank you to all the family members, coaches, volunteers, and fans for all of your hard work and support. Special Olympics is a large event and it would not have been possible without the assistance of countless people who help prepare ahead of time, work during the event itself, and clean up afterwards. It truly is a community event from the committee planning it to the people working it. Thank you for helping to make the day possible and successful!
Community involvement is a huge part of what makes an event this size successful. Thank you to all of the sponsors, businesses and individuals that donated time and money to the Special Olympics Track and Field Day. An especially big thank you to Farmers State Bank and Shelbyville Lions Club for preparing and providing food and funnel cakes for everyone to enjoy.
