Shelbyville MS Dragon Players Perform The Miracle Worker

December 8, 2016 - (Photos submitted by Michelle Peña) The Shelbyville Middle School theater group performed their One Act play, 'The Miracle Worker' authored by William Gibson, on Tuesday, November 29th in the cafetorium.

The setting was in and around the Keller Homestead in Alabama in the 1880s. The Keller home is ruled by a child, Helen, who is rendered blind, deaf, and mute by an illness. The middle school Dragon players portray the struggles the family faces and the miracle of when Anna Sullivan, a governess and teacher, takes Helen on an emotionally distraught journey of learning manors and communication which ultimately changes Helen's life and her family.
