Shelbyville Safety, Security Committee Meets

August 30, 2022 - Shelbyville ISD hosted a meeting of its Safety and Security Committee meeting on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, in the Shelbyville ISD school board meeting room.

The meeting began at 12-noon with a review of previous meeting minutes as recited by Catherine Duvon.

A motion carried to approve the minutes and then the meeting moved on and Duvon announced the committee members to be herself, Dr. Ray West, Superintendent; Etola Jones, school board president; Judson Mathews, school police chief; Luciana Barr, Emergency Management Coordinator; Kevin Windham, Sheriff; Tanner Peace, Sheriff’s Captain; Jill Baty; and Mario Osby, High School Principal.

Ruth Gonzales, Sheriff’s Chief Deputy, was also in attendance for the meeting.

A motion carried to nominate Catherine Duvon as committee chair which was followed by a motion carrying to nominate Jill Baty as secretary.

The meeting went into executive session at 12:10pm to review the school’s emergency operating plan and to review the summer safety audit.

When the meeting returned to open session a motion carried to present the safety audit to the school board as presented.

The meeting then adjourned at 1:05pm.
