October 30, 2026 (Photo Album) - Shelbyville’s Dragons Varsity Football team improved their season mark to 6-2 and their District 11 2A-1 mark is now 3-0 after a 26-21 win over the Timpson Bears 3-5, 0-3.

Shelbyville started the opening drive on their own 25-yard line. Big tackles by Timpson’s Corey Wilson, Clifford Cline and man-to-man coverage on Bryant Scarborough stopped the Dragons from advancing. The Bears started their opening drive on their own 40-yard line. C'Najai Henderson rushed for a 12-yard gain, but Dallas Murray and Sergio Reyes forced a turnover on downs. Taking over on their 32-yard line, the Dragons were unable to score on the drive. On their second possession, the Bears had a long way to go, starting at their 5-yard line. Jaydence Miles found Albert Parter Jr. for a 22-yard pass, but did not get much further than that. The chess match between the two teams continued for the remainder of the quarter.

Still a scoreless game at the top of the second quarter, Timpson’s Brecken Kimbro forced a Shelbyville turnover on downs at their own 37-yard line. Finding themselves at 4th & 3, the Bears offense was stopped by the Dragons, taking back over at the Bears’ 46-yard line. Gavin McDonald connected with Bryant Scarborough for a 42-yard pass right at the 10-yard line. Tate Obregon took it in for the first touchdown of the game. After stopping the two-point conversion, the Bears trailed 6-0. The 69-yard rushing touchdown by Parker Jr. was brought back to the 25-yard line after a penalty flag against the Bears. The Bears were unable to make their way back into the endzone. Shelbyville’s McDonald saw a wide-open Hunter Harvey for a 10-yard gain to put them at midfield. Harvey then carried the ball 24-yards to place the Dragons back in scoring position. William Walden had no issue running up the middle for a touchdown. The Dragons extended their lead 12-0 at the end of the 2nd quarter.

The Bears began the second half just shy of midfield. Henderson had a 14-yard rushing gain to push them into Dragon territory. After a penalty flag pushed them back, Parker Jr. found Castillo wide-open near the 5-yard line. Henderson jumped into the endzone to put the Bears on the scoreboard; 12-6 after Sergio Reyes blocked the two-point conversion. Shelbyville took over at the 38-yard line. Hunter Harvey and Ronnie Williams III carried the ball downfield, but 2 penalties against the Dragons and big defensive tackles from Brecken Kimbro stopped the Dragons from moving forward. Shelbyville had a turnover on downs at the 5-yard line. Henderson and Parker Jr. marched the ball to midfield but the Dragons defense halted them from tying up the game.

Now with 12 minutes left in the game, Harvey and Williams brought the ball back into Bear territory, but again, the relentless Bears’ defense halted them from scoring. Taking over at the 20-yard line, Parker Jr. rushes 72 yards for a game-tying touchdown for the Bears. The extra point by Castillo is good; Bears took the lead 13-12. Andy Johnson wasted no time retaliating for a 67-yard rushing touchdown; Dragons reclaimed the lead 18-12.

C'Najai Henderson was not going to let the Dragons off that easily with a 70-yard rushing touchdown on the Bears’ following drive; Bears retook the lead 21-18 after the two-point conversion was good. The Dragons found themselves in trouble after a QB sack pushed them back, but Scarborough secured a first down. On a hail mary attempt by McDonald, Jamichael Page knocked the ball beautifully. With one more play left in the drive, Timpson’s defense was unable to stop Hunter Harvey from catching a 54-yard passing touchdown. Dragons recaptured the lead 29-21, leaving 3 minutes in the game. Neither team scored the remainder of the game.
