Sheriff's Department Arrests Two on Narcotics Charges

October 27, 2021 - The Shelby County Sheriff’s Department reports the arrest of two on narcotics charges in the Timpson area.

David Nathan LewisShelby County Sheriff Kevin W. Windham reports the arrest of David Nathan Lewis and Beverly Kay Hurst, both of Timpson. On Tuesday, October 26, 2021, Sheriff Windham and Shelby County Sheriff’s Department (SCSD) deputies completed a narcotics operation at a residence in Timpson.

Intelligence gathered by SCSD investigators led them to believe that a substantial amount of narcotics and firearms were located at Lewis’ residence in Timpson. Due to information obtained, a Manufacturing and Delivery of a Controlled Substance (F-1) warrant was completed and served. As a result of the operation, a felony amount of methamphetamine (917.15 grams or 2.02 pounds) was recovered from the residence along with multiple firearms.

Beverly Kay HurstLewis and Hurst were also in possession of multiple items that had previously been reported stolen. SCSD deputies also extracted a one-year-old child from the residence who was being exposed to narcotics and firearms. The child was placed in a safe environment. Lewis is being held at the Shelby County Jail on bonds totaling $295,000 and Hurst is being held on $135,000 bonds.

It is with great pleasure that the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) reports this information to the residents of Shelby County. This is the first of many ongoing narcotics investigations with several more to follow. The SCSO recognizes that narcotics are a problem right here at home and we intend to pursue and persevere until our county is as safe as possible.
