Sheriff's Department Promotes Gross, Hooper; Shares May Report

June 3, 2021 - For the month of May, our office answered a total of 704 calls for service. A total of 88 arrests were made for the county. My deputies made 48 traffic stops; and from those stops, 21 warnings and 26 citations were issued; one stop also resulted in an arrest. Our office took a total of 92 reports for the month of May.

I would like to congratulate two of my deputies on their recent promotions. Jake Gross was promoted to Corporal. Corporal Gross has been with our office since 2019. Chad Hooper was also promoted to Corporal. Corporal Hooper has been with our office since 2019. These two men are an asset to the Sheriff’s Office. They both take great pride in being an officer and always strive to help and assist far beyond what is asked of them. I am very thankful for their dedication to our office and to the citizens of Shelby County. If you happen to see them out around town, shake their hand. They have certainly earned their promotions.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office will be participating in a Battle of the Badges Blood Drive against the Center Police Department. This event will take place on July 16 at the Community House in Center. We would love your support in helping us contribute to a great cause. Food trucks will be on hand and there will be drawings for great door prizes. All successful donors will receive either a t-shirt or beach towel. We are very excited to be a part of this! For more information about the blood drive or to reserve a time to donate, contact our office (936.598.5601) and ask to speak with Leah Chase, our Public Relations Director.
