
November 4, 2025 - The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office has reported of a reckless driver incident on November 3, 2025, that resulted in a collision between the suspect vehicle and a Shelby County Sheriff’s Department patrol unit on County Road 1184.
According to the Shelby County Jail log Jose Guadalupe Martinez, 22, was arrested on November 3, and was charged with evading arrest/detention with vehicle, aggravated assault against public servant and violation of driver’s license restriction on occupational license. Bonds have not yet been set.
Texas Department of Public Safety has issued details relating to the incident stating that the preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 8:31pm, a 2018 Shelby County Sheriff’s Office patrol unit that was traveling south attempted to stop a 2011 Toyota Camry driven by Jose Martinez, 22, of Center, that was actively evading law enforcement and traveling north. It is reported that the patrol unit stopped in the road and attempted to block the path of the Toyota and the Toyota struck the patrol unit. After striking the patrol unit, the driver of the Toyota attempted to accelerate to continue north but was unsuccessful and was apprehended.
The Shelby County deputy was not injured.
Martinez was not injured and was subsequently arrested by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office for charges that led to the crash.
The Sheriff’s Department reports receiving a call regarding a reckless driver on State Highway 7 West regarding a 2011 Toyota Camry that the caller alleged almost hit them. Shelby County Sheriff’s Department units attempted to conduct a traffic stop of the Toyota on CR 1184 and allege the Toyota rammed the driver’s side of one of the patrol units.
