SL 500, SH 7 East Scene of Two-vehicle Crash

August 16, 2021 - The intersection of SL 500 and State Highway 7 (SH7) East was the scene of a two-vehicle crash which sent several to the hospital Friday, August 13, 2021 at around 1pm.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene to the aid of those involved.

According to Center Police Officer Kevin Sage, a green 1996 Ford F-150 4x4 driven by Kevin Jackson, 49, of Center was stopped at the southbound stop sign on SL 500 and entered the intersection with SH 7. 

At that time a 2021 Maroon Chevrolet Equinox driven by Robin Doty, 46, of Joaquin was traveling westbound on SH 7 and was struck in the passenger side of the vehicle by the Ford. 

The Chevrolet remained in the middle of the intersection while the Ford traveled to the SH 7 eastbound shoulder where it came to a stop.

Center Fire Department personnel diverted traffic around the crash scene until it was clear and to help the Center Police Department investigate safely.

Jackson, Doty and her passenger Edward Murphy, 49, were transported by ambulance from the scene to Nacogdoches Medical Center - Shelby Emergency Department for treatment of possible minor injuries.

According to Texas Department of Transportation crash statistics, there have been 34 crashes at this location since 2016.
