Swanzy to Speak at TAGHS November Meeting

November 9, 2015 - Noted author, educator, and historian David Swanzy will speak to the Timpson Area Geaealogical and Heritage Society at their regular monthly meeting in the Timpson Public Libray next Wednesday, Novwmber 18, 2015. A member of both TAGHS and the Shelby County Historical Society as well as editor of We the People of Shelby County, Dr. Swanzy is an authority on Shelby County history.

“A resident of Center, Dr. Swanzy is Dean Emeritus of the College of Music of Loyola University of New Orleans and has enjoyed a successful career as a musician, teacher, and writer.” His book Living and Fighting with the French Underground, published in 2011, recounts the stories of American airmen who fought along side French resistance fighters in Nazi-occupied France during WWII. In addition, Dr. Swanzy has published music textbooks for higher education and numerous articles on history and genealogy.

TAGHS meets the third Wednesday of each month at 2PM in the meeting room of the Timpson Public Library on the corner of Austin and Bremond Streets. The public is invited.
