SWEPCO, DETEC Report Major Outage (Update: 10:15)

June 1, 2024 - (Update): 10pm - DETEC reports they have received notification that AEP has received structural damage and power is likely to not be restored tonight. In the event of an emergency, call 911.

DETEC states, “DETEC is a distribution cooperative - we deliver the power to you through power lines that we maintain. AEP is a generation and transmission electric company - they own and maintain power plants and then deliver this power that we purchase through transmission lines to our system.”

The 12 substations on the DETEC system that still have power are fed by Oncor and Entergy.

SWEPCO has reported a systemwide outage that is affecting customers across Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas.

Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative (DETEC) advises that, due to their transmission provider (AEP - SWEPCO) experiencing a major outage - 22 of the 34 substations on the Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative system are without power.

This issue is beyond their control and DETEC is working with the provider to get a resolution.
