November 1, 2023 - Jim Ross, who brought the excellent program on the New London School explosion to Timpson Area Genealogy and Heritage Society (TAGHS) in March, has agreed to favor TAGHS with another presentation on Iwo Jima November 15, at 2pm in Timpson Public Library annex.
Jim, the son of J.W. and Laura Ross, grew up in Houston, graduating from Galena Park in 1964 and then embarking on 2 1/2 years of U. S. Army service. While living in Silas, where his parents spent their retirement years, he attended Panola College, and subsequently earned a Masters of Education Degree from SFA. During this time he married a Timpson girl, Linda Williams.
Mr Ross who describes himself as an amateur historian and photographer became interested in the 36 day Battle of Iwo Jima while researching his uncle, who was injured in that battle.
TAGHS invites the public, and anyone who is interested in history, to join us as we enjoy Mr Ross's presentation.
