Tenaha Street in Front of Ray Jones Chevrolet Scene of Two-Vehicle Crash

September 14, 2015 -Hurst Street in front of Covington Lumber and Ray Jones Chevrolet was the scene of a two-vehicle collision Monday, September 14, 2015.

The Center Fire Department was dispatched to the scene of the crash and when they arrived they provided traffic control as the two vehicles were blocking the outside traffic lane.

Geoffrey Wright, 27, of Center was traveling south on Tenaha Street in the outside lane when a 2014 4-door Chrysler 200C driven by Mark Diebolt, 82, of Huxley was exiting from Ray Jones Chevrolet. Wright failed to control speed and Tacoma collided with the rear Chrysler causing damage to both vehicles.

Diebolt traveled to a driveway about 100 yards from the crash scene and came to a halt while the Tacoma remained at the collision scene. 

ACE EMS transported Diebolt from the scene of the crash to Nacogdoches Medical Center - Center Emergency Department with non life threatening injuries. Wright refused treatment at the scene and was issued citations for failure to maintain financial responsibility, driving while license suspended or invalid, and failure to control speed. Diebolt was issued a citation for failure to maintain financial responsibility.

The crash was investigated by Center Police Officer Andrew Williams assisted by Sgt. Duane Gordon and Officer Jake Gross.
