Timpson City Council Regular Meeting Agenda, Feb. 15

February 10, 2022 - Notice is hereby given that a meeting of the governing body of the above-named City will be held on the 15th day of February, 2022 at 5:30 pm at Timpson City Hall, 456 Jacob Street, Timpson, at which time the following subjects will be considered, to-wit:

1. Call to Order

2. Invocation

3. Pledge: United States Pledge, Texas Pledge

4. Council Items: Reports by the members of the City Council on matters not on the agenda will be made at this time. A total, not to exceed 10 minutes will be devoted to these reports.

5. Presentations Recognitions/ Chamber of Commerce notices:

6. Citizens Input: This time is provided for members of the public to address the City Council on items that appear within the Consent and Action Items or a matter not listed on the agenda. Each speaker is limited to 3 minutes. A Citizens Input Form may be filled out and filed with the City Secretary prior to the meeting.

Public Works Report:

City Secretary: There have been 3 candidate packets submitted for the General Election as of February 10th, which are Debra Smith, Teri Alexander and Kenny Walker. February 18th at 5:00PM, is the last day to File a for a place on the Ballot, and next Tuesday, February 22nd is the last day for a Declaration of Write-in Candidacy.

If an election is held, the date to Conduct Drawing for Order of Names on Ballot, but will be on a day between February 24th and February 28th, candidates will be notified and the date/time will be posted in the agenda box.

Important 2022 Election Dates:

  • File for Place on the Ballot: Jan 19 – Feb 18, 2022
  • Last day to File a Declaration of Write-in Candidacy: Feb. 22, 2022
  • Conduct Drawing for Order of Names on Ballot: Feb. 24-28, 2022
  • Early Voting: April 25 - May 3, 2022
  • Election Day: May 7, 2022

7. Consent Agenda: Items included under the Consent Agenda require little or no deliberation by the Council. Approval of the Consent Agenda authorizes the City Secretary to proceed with the conclusion of each item as reflected in the Minutes of this meeting.

B. Consider approval of the Minutes from the EDC Board Meeting held January 18, 2022
C. Consider approval of Financial Statement for the month of January, 2022
D. Consider approval of Accounts Payable for the month of January, 2022

Regular Agenda Items (8-10)

8. Discuss and take action: Discuss and consider the bids received for the exterior painting of City Halls’ adjacent building.

9. Discuss and take action: Discuss and consider the bids received for the demolition, removal and clean-up of the Cobb building located on the corner of Hwy. 59 and Jacob St.

10. Discuss and take action: Discuss and consider amendment of personnel handbook, section 8.05 Sick Leave/Personal Leave, to include: Per Dec 29, 2021 CDC Guidelines, employee Covid Positive Test - off with pay 3 days, may return to work with the following stipulations:

1) May return to work after 5 days from onset IF employee is asymptomatic - NO FEVER for 24 hrs.

2) Must wear a mask for 5 days at work.

3) AN EMPLOYEE is exposed to POSITIVE COVID - is not required to isolate but must wear a mask at work for 10 days and should be tested on day 5.

The Council reserves the right to retire into executive session concerning any of the items listed on this agenda whenever it is considered necessary and is legally justified under the Open Meetings Act.
