May 17, 2022 - Timpson High School introduces the graduating class of 2022.
Braden Courtney is Timpson High School’s Class of 2022 Valedictorian with a GPA of 99.16428 and that has plans to attend Lamar University in the fall of 2022. He is the son of Chad and Rebecca Courtney, and Kelli Bass. Braden has four siblings: Hadley Courtney, Jerrin Bass, Emery Smyers, and Kamryn Courtney. Braden said, “My family has unquestionably been the reason I have made it this far in my life. For that, I am truly grateful.”
At Lamar University he plans to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science to help enter the Fitness Industry. Braden shared, “In the future, I hope to own a business in relation to this industry. I know that obtaining a bachelor’s degree and owning a business are no cakewalk. However, I am prepared for any, and all, challenges that comes my way. I do not run away from challenges, I greet them with a smile.”
He is very grateful for his family and attributes his success to them all. While a student at Timpson ISD, Braden has been very active in athletics and received many accolades. He has also been an honor student and earned 49 dual credit college hours.
Erik Ramirez is Timpson High School’s Salutatorian and achieved a final GPA of 99.138. He is the son of Lillian Sims and Moises Ramirez. He grew up on his grandparent’s poultry farm in the town of Center, TX. His academic journey began at a small school in Aiken called Excelsior which is an extremely small school with only a little over 100 students in all grades k-8th. Once Erik graduated from eighth grade at Excelsior his academic journey took him to Timpson High School. Erik’s freshman year was filled with new experiences for him. Erik started taking dual credit classes his freshmen year along with his high school classes. Erik maintained a high A average throughout his tenure at Timpson.
Throughout Erik’s high school career, he earned Outstanding Student Awards in Biology, College Algebra, and Algebra 2. He also participated in UIL academic events such as Journalism, Mathematics, and Number sense. Erik has graduated with his Associates Degree of Science from Panola College before he has graduated from high school.
Erik has been accepted into his dream school of LSU and will attend school there this Fall. There he will study to become a Biomedical Engineer. Erik is uncertain of what the future holds, however, he is ready for new challenges. Erik gives thanks to all of Timpson High School faculty, family, and friends for supporting him throughout his academic journey.
