Timpson High School Students Compete at TAFE Conference

March 9, 2022 - Timpson High School TAFE (Texas Association of Future Educators) members competed on Thursday, March 3rd and Friday, March 4th in Dallas under the direction of sponsor Lori Center.

With a total of three projects advancing to Nationals, four projects earned four Gold Certificates which is the highest score that they can receive. Ms. Center and four students including Karston Allen, Talia Scourton, Jalia Scourton, and Ethan Miles were chosen to present a lesson about how to effectively integrate technology into the classroom at the national convention. 

State Gold Certificate winners include Megan Sepulvado and Yuridia Guzman in ‘Interactive Bulletin Board Elementary’, Cody Crawford and Kendahl Brown in ‘Interactive Bulletin Board Elementary’, Karston Allen and Alexis Billingsley in ‘Interactive Bulletin Board High School’, Kendahl Brown and Bethany Ghea in ‘Project Visualize on Service’. 

State Silver Certificate winners include Keira Curtis and Ashanti Page in ‘Project Visualize on Service’.

State Bronze Certificate winners include Joshua Wagstaff and Kyndra Ghea in ‘Teacher Created Materials’, Tyler Lane and Shelton Melancon in ‘Teacher Created Materials’.

National Qualifiers include Ethan Miles in ‘Impromptu Lesson’, Noah Godde and Mackenzie Smith in ‘Children's Literature K-3’, Jalia Scourton in ‘Exploring Support Service Careers’.

“These students definitely worked hard on their competition pieces, and they accomplished their goal to advance to Nationals in their first year competing,” Center said. “I could not be more proud of their hard work and dedication to this organization. Timpson High School is producing some amazing future educators.”

They were also given an Outstanding Chapter Award for TAFE.

The National Competition is going to be hosted in Washington D.C. in June.
