Timpson ISD Honors Local Veterans

November 21, 2021 - (Album) - Timpson ISD held a Veterans Day program just before their pep rally Thursday, November 11, 2021, and the program began with the flag presentation. 

Due to Covid-19, the school was unable to host their normal program they are used to in 2020 and they hope to be able to have their traditional program in 2022. The school wanted to insure they were able to honor their local heros this year.

Veterans present who received recognition were: 

  • Pvt. 1st Class Kent Brown (Marines: 1998-2002) 
  • Staff Sergeant James Cope (Army - Vietnam)
  • Sergeant Roy Drake (Army - Vietnam)
  • Private 1st Class Richard Hightower (Army - Korea)
  • Specialist Darryl Joyner (Army - Desert Storm)
  • Staff Sergeant Orville Miller, Jr. (Army - Vietnam)
  • E-5 Danny Pierce (Army - Vietnam)
  • Chief Petty Officer Vernett Richardson (Navy - Desert Storm, Iraqi Freedom, Global War on Terrorism)
  • Sergeant Marvin E. "Fred" Wilcox (Marines - Desert Storm)

Following the recognition of Veterans, the Timpson High School Bear Band performed the National Anthem. The Pledge of Allegiance was then led by Timpson students and the program concluded.
