TISD Teacher School Supply Trip; Good Samaritan Makes Donation

August 29, 2016 - On August 17 Timpson ISD staff dressed in their black and gold and loaded 3 school buses for their annual trip to Nacogdoches to buy instructional and student school supplies.

Each teacher could buy $200 worth of supplies at Wal Mart or Terrific Teachers. Teachers are one of the few professions that often times spend their own money for job related expenses. Teachers expressed their appreciation to the Timpson ISD administration and school board for supporting this trip.

While teachers were shopping a man walked up to Principals Bubba Carrington and Calvin Smith. He handed them a gift card and asked that they use it to help the teachers and students get what they needed. He quickly turned and walked away obviously not wanting thanks or credit for his good deed. His donation certainly helped the staff get what they needed for the students and it also lifted their spirits to know that this kind man acknowledged the importance of teachers in the lives of students and the importance of students having the supplies they would need to be successful in school.

With approximately 70% of our students classified as lower socio economic this generous gift was especially appreciated. Although we did not learn this kind man’s name before he left, the TISD staff wants him to know how much they appreciate his generous gift and would like for him to visit the campuses if he is ever in Timpson so that we can thank him personally.

Following the shopping trip the staff enjoyed lunch together at Clear Springs and Auntie Pasta’s before heading back to school to get ready for the 2016-2017 school year.
